  • Weather & Climate:  Contrary to popular belief, Maine is not a cold or dreary place!  Maine has four beautiful seasons – Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.  All with their own appeal.
  • Maine has one of the most comfortable summer climates in the Northeast.  Average temps in the 70’s with 90’s being rare
  • Winters are cold, but not for extended periods.  Sure, we get to zero and below in the dead of winter but not for prolonged periods.  The coldest temps are in the interior mountain areas – which is great for skiing and snow-making!
  • Fall is beautiful!  Some of the most amazing foliage can be seen in the fall and temperatures are comfortable.
  • Spring is, well, mud season.  It doesn’t last long and is just the beginning of a beautiful summer season.
  • Coastal areas have temperatures that can be a bit moderate due to the proximity to the ocean; inland areas often have a different weather pattern.
  • The snowiest month is January!
  • Tornadoes and earthquakes are rare.
  • There are about 15 thunderstorms per year and annual precipitation of 40-46 inches
  • Annual snowfall levels vary from 50”-70” on the coast to 90” to 110” inland
  • Nor’easters occasionally occur on the coast bringing heavy snows of 10 inches or more in a single day.
