Maine is a strong brand, often defining the “New England Experience.” Our website is full of information about why Maine should also be considered as a business destination. Some of the key attributes that define New Englander’s in general are also vital to business success – determined, committed, loyal, perseverance.
This part of our website, however, is strictly about the Quality of Life in Maine as it may relate to you and your employees.
Maine has an incredible education system and we recognize the importance of ensuring a quality education from beginning to end. Waterville is home to a brand new Educare Center, clearly setting the bar for early childhood education in Maine. We are encouraging entrepreneurial programs in K-12. We have five colleges within a very close radius of FirstPark – Colby College, Thomas College, University of Maine campus, Kennebec Valley Community College, and Unity College. All offering a variety of programs and experiences.
We have great healthcare providers and facilities close by. A new $300M+ hospital will soon be building a short distance from FirstPark next to a state-of-the-art cancer treatment facility.
There are a number of public and private libraries in the immediate area, including the Maine State Library.
Each year there are a number of cultural events and activities. Waterville hosts the International Film Festival, and the Side Walk Art Show. There are a number of county fairs and also the Common Ground Country Fair, celebrating organic food production. Colby College has a high ranked art museum. The LC Bates museum is also close by as is the Maine State Museum.
Maine’s recreation possibilities are endless. There’s “the great Outdoors” for hunters, fisherman or for those who just enjoy being out. There’s “coastal charm” for those who love the ocean, working villages and harbors, or the peace of the sea. There’s “mountain majesty” for those who want to walk the many trails in Maine, including the famous 100 mile wilderness of the Appalachian Trail up to the terminus at the top of Mount Katahdin. In the winter, Maine’s mountains become a hub of activity with a number of well known ski areas, including Sugarloaf, home of Olympian Seth Wescott. You will never tire of exploring Maine.
